One of the major names in this regard is Alexandra Hospital – it is situated in south-western part of the city and is equipped with 400 beds. It occupies almost 110,000 sqaure meters. Built during the later half of 1930s the hospital was reduced to shambles during the Second World War.

Parkway East Hospital is situated in Telok Kurau and is fitted with 123 beds. It was inaugurated by Dr. Charles Joseph Pemberton-Paglar during the 1930s and was named Paglar Maternity and Nursing Home to start with.
