What the project is all about-
The project is basically a multi-disciplinary dance company in Singapore.
The directors and founders-
Tan How Choon and Lim Chin Huat
When ECNAD started its mission-
It was set up in the year 1996 and then it was known as Dance Dimension Project.
Focus of the project-
From 1997 to 2000 Suntec City fountain, Bugis Junction fountain, Millennia Walk and UOB Plaza Atrium are some of the performance venues for outreach site specific in urban set up. The focus shifted with the passage of time and so, from 1990- 2000, its focus was to provide opportunities to local dance talents and in the process lending them a platform to work with overseas professionals and various production houses or performing groups. And presently ECNAD of Singapore is working on costuming, projections on top movements, original music and vocals in order to add a new dimension to the concept of dance movements and expressions. Innovative choreography is the other main concern and quite a favorite subject of the specialists with which they can experiment by changing formats and through improvisation skills.
Achievements-
It is noted for 30 creations over the past 10 years. "Floating Mirror" and "a-the-bird" in 35th Belgrade International Theatre Festival earned appreciation and even standing ovation from audience. And one should not forget the figure, 19,700 audiences for "Tales from The Giant Blanket" for the spellbound performance at Festival of Asia in New Zealand in 2001. National Arts Council of Singapore even commissioned ECNAD to go for a multi-disciplinary artistic work titled "Missing In Tall Pillars" at the Asian Civilizations Museum in 2002. And recently ECNAD was commissioned to co-conceptualize and create "Metamorphosis "for the opening ceremony of Mercedez Asia Fashion Award of 2006.
