National University of Singapore is known for its attempt at the exploration of academic and artistic qualities of students. And NUS Dance Group forms a core part of the institution. It is interesting to take to look at the variety of dance groups NUS offer for its students:
Chinese Dance Group: Founded in 1977, the NUS Chinese Dance currently has over 75 dancers trained by the choreographer Ms Ding Hong. Its objective is to incorporate technical fusion of tradition with folk dance into Chinese dances.

Korea International Dance Event (1995), the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Scotland (1999), The Chinese Cultural Month Dance Extravaganza, National Day Carnival-At-The-Bay festivities are some of the major events in which NUS Dance Groups perform.
The NUS Dance Ensemble : Its main focus is to provide a strong platform to young, talented dancers and choreographers and to promote original works. It experiments with jazz, ballet and oriental dance movements and ethnic elements.
Indian Dance- This group mainly focuses on the most ancient classical form of Indian dance i.e. Bharata Natyam. Presently this NUS Dance Group is working at the fusion of various classical forms of dance with folk and modern techniques.
NUS Dance Synergy- This NUS Dance Group mainly strives to focus on modern interpretation of dance movements.
NUS Dance Blast! - The focus of this group revolves round Hip-Hop and Funk accompanied by modern techniques like Waving, Popping and Locking in Hip-Hop slang.

Dance Reflections:When its time to turn the spotlight of our discussion to events of NUS Dance Group, then, one has to mention Dance Reflections. It upholds the combined creative dance movements of NUS Chinese Dance, NUS Ilsa Tari, NUS Indian Dance, NUS Dance Ensemble, and NUS Dance Synergy that reflect the pulse of varied cultural heritage.
