Practice Performing Arts School (PPAS) started its journey in the year 1965 and the credit goes to the eminent choreographer and dancer Goh Lay Kuan and the late dramatist Kuo Pao Kun. Both of them were Cultural Medallion recipients. They believed that arts education is very much a part of an overall growth and development of human qualities. The main objective of Practice Performing Arts School (PPAS) of Singapore is to induce interpretive capacity, ignite imagination, and to offer a wide exposure to varied cultural heritage to its students.

During the training, thrust is given on building confidence along with a faith in self discipline. Thus interestingly, Practice Performing Arts School is different from the other performing art schools of Singapore and the difference lies in the focus on individual development along with the improvement of their creative skills. The institution also deals with the technical aspects of various creative art forms in order to put up a spectacular performance.
Though we have a list of non- profit performing arts institution in Singapore yet we cannot ignore the significance of PPAS of Singapore as it was the first one that was registered under the Ministry of Education.
