Established in the year 2001, MDIS School of Life Sciences is the first private educational school under the flagship MDIS, in Singapore, to offer Life Science courses. The school is known for its rigorous and updated course curriculums and laboratories, which have gained accreditations from OHSAS 18001:2007. The school even boasts of its partnership or collaborations with some of the well known foreign universities as well.|
When talking about its rigorous programmes, the school also offers numerous specialization subjects in Life Sciences, to choose from. These include Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Medical cell biology, Medical biochemistry and Cancer biology. These subjects are introduced, after considering the boom in the healthcare and the booming biological industries of the nation. Singapore has witnesses a surge in medical tourism over the past few years and so it is believed that these subjects will help catering to the demand. The School has several departments like Food & Nutrition, Biology, Chemical & Forensic Sciences, Sport and fitness, Psychology and Biomedical Sciences.
The institute offers a number of programs covering Bachelorís degree, masterís program graduate diploma and certificate programs.
Bachelorís degree can be pursued in the school either in Biotechnology or in Bio medical sciences. The former is awarded by Northumbria University, UK, while the latter is awarded by the University of Bradford, UK.
The Biotechnology Bachelorís program is a three years program, aimed to brush the basics of Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Bio informatics. The module covers skills pertaining to Applied Sciences, Plant Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biodiversity, Microbiology, immunology with suitable projects from time to time. The Northumbria University assesses the course requirements like assignments, case studies and exams before giving away the degree.
Similarly, the University of Bradford awards the students with degrees only on the completion of the course. The course structure aims at imparting a proper and thorough understanding of the molecular aspects of biology. These will include Cellular, molecular, Biochemical mechanisms of pathologies. The course structure is divided into 2 stages, which cover subjects more or less similar to the Biotech program.
The fees for the Biomedical Sciences are S$37,717. 50, for day program and S$37, 450, for the evening program. The Biotech program fee is S$ 37,985.
Both the foreign universities are known for their extensive research, thereby offering numerous research opportunities for the students. In fact, apart from teaching the basics, the School of Life Sciences, in Singapore too offers ample possibilities to explore research programmes with them.
The Masterís degree is awarded by the University of Wales, UK. The Master of Science can be pursued in Health Management, which has an extensive course structure including modules on Healthcare marketing, Research methodology, OB, Healthcare finance & economics, Strategic management, global healthcare and ethical norms. The course structure is more management oriented and therefore, has a dissertation for the masterís program as well. The programme can be pursued by students during the day and evening time. However, the fee somehow remains the same for both, which is S$24, 610 only.

The program is a 9 months course, which can be pursued on a part-time or in evening shifts. The course fee stands at S$7843, including application fee as well.
Certificate in Biomedical Sciences
The course structure is divisible into 2 stages. While the 1st one deals with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math, Genetics and Anatomy, the 2nd one deals with Physiology, Molecular cell biology, bio informatics in addition to biology, math, chemistry and Physics. The fee of the program is S$6099.
The last two program certificates are awarded to the students by the School of Life Sciences, Singapore itself.
