Education is best imparted from small age and it becomes more important for expatriates to provide suitable education to their children. Since Singapore is country with residents of many nationalities who have stay with their families, there are many well established international schools to choose from. These international schools impart the same education system to the child which is followed in the home country of the parents. This helps in imbibing the culture and traditions of the home country and also makes the child feel comfortable amidst people of his own nationality.
It becomes very important to check out the schools before making the final decision. One should check out the curriculum followed, the subjects taught, the school strength with respect to number of students and teaching staff, the importance given to physical education and sport facilities provided, the number of languages taught in the school
Admission Proces: Most of the schools are registered with The Ministry of Education (MOE), and have special permission to follow the curriculum of their home country. Starting at the age of 5, a typical student goes through 2 years of kindergarten, 6 years of primary school, 4 or 5 years of secondary school, 2 years of Junior College leading to the GCE A Levels, and 3 or 4 years of university education.
After applying in the school of their choice, the students have to undergo a placement test and then the school issues a letter of Acceptance (LOA). This LOA is valid for two weeks after it is issued, during which the formalities of admission have to be completed. A donation of S$500 has to be made to the education fund. It will be an added advantage if the student knows the English language.
Fees Structure:
Lower grades = S$4,600 to S$14,000
Upper grades = S$6,000 to S$18,000
