The A* STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS) provides for PhD studies in various exciting fields of research. Scholars are supervised throughout their course of study. The AGS comprises two schemes, the AGS (Local) and AGS (Overseas). Areas covered under both programmes include Biomedical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering.

AGS (Local)

The AGS (Local) scholarship scheme is a collaboration between A*STAR Graduate Academy (A*GA) and the Graduate Schools of NUS and NTU, with the PhD degree awarded by either universities. It offers a "4+2" scholarship - comprising a four-year PhD study tenable at either NUS or NTU, and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship (PDF)* at a top overseas university or research laboratory in the scholar's chosen field.

AGS (Overseas)

The AGS The AGS (Overseas) scholarship scheme is a collaboration between A*STAR and an overseas university, with the PhD degree awarded by the overseas university. Currently, A*STAR has arrangements with Imperial College London, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, University of Dundee, Scotland and Carnegie Mellon University.

The scholarships are open to nationals of ASEAN countries.
