The NUS has set up a Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe (CISEE) Student Exchange Programme to promote exchanges to and from new partners in non-traditional locations. This new CISEE SEP will enable partner universities in Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland and other countries with mutual interests to send students to each other's campuses for a semester or year of non-graduating studies with credit transfer based on, for instance, the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The NUS will offer 20 awards each academic year to students of partner universities in CISEE on a merit basis. The awards are offered to students nominated by their university, and who meet NUS' admission criteria as non-graduating exchange students. The award includes waiver of tuition fees at NUS for one semester, and an all-in sum of S$6000 to cover return air-ticket, personal and living expenses.
