The overall academic performance of a student in Singapore is determined through several points scoring system. This also determines the type of post-secondary institution a students wants to apply for. The scoring system is somewhat like L1R5, L1B5 and L1R4. Each grade in the scoring system includes a point value. The grading system in Singapore states the lesser the points obtained the score tends to get better. Lets look into the L1R5 scoring system, here L1 is the first language of the student and R5 comprises of the 5 other relevant subjects. In this system 6 points is considered to be the best score for one to sit for the entrance examination conducted by a junior college. Other than this several schools in Singapore uses the Mean Subject Grade (MSG) for the scoring purposes. Schools Running the Integrated Programme (IP) are free to go for the Grade Point Assessment (GPA) scoring system.
