The Asian Media Information and Communication Centre has been working closing with the School of Communication and Information , Nanyang Technological University to develop media and communication expertise in the Asia-Pacific region. The Singapore Internet Research Centre has been initiating and conducting research related to the Internet across Asia, including East, Southeast, and South Asia. The communications and media industry engages in the development, creation and delivery of content and multimedia services. Singapore's well-developed infrastructure stands it in good stead as a leading player in the industry.

In the last couple of years, Singapore's media industry has made significant inroads into the international market, with a slate of co-production projects with leading international players across various platforms, and an increasing demand for Made-by-Singapore content. Channel NewsAsia, which is viewed in more than 20 territories across Asia, is owned and managed by MediaCorp that is the largest and most established broadcaster in Singapore.

Media giants like Disney Singapore, CNBC Asia, MTV Asia, and Cable & Reuters all have regional bases in Singapore. This translates to greater opportunities in cable broadcasting, wireless communications, broadcast production, and programming.
