Swiss Club Singapore

The Swiss club Singapore, was established in 1871. At present, its strength is approx, 1300 members (400 German nationals, 300 Swiss nationals, nationals of 44 countries).

The location of the Swiss club Singapore is off dunearn Road, amidst rustic surroundings. The purpose of the club was to set up a getaway amongst nature away from the high pitched schedules of the city environs.The foundations of the Swiss club Singapore were rooted through the hosting of the the first shooting festival of the “Swiss Rifle Shooting Club of Singapore held during 1871.By 1902, the Riffle Shooting Club built a simple Clubhouse with a palm roof and shooting range on the slopes of Bukit Tinggi. Finally in 1925, the Swiss Rifle Shooting Club became the Swiss Club. In 1927, a new Clubhouse was inaugurated which still stand strong even today. It was built by H R Arbenz who was offered his services. The Club has honored his services of H R Arbenz by naming the restaurant after him.
The Facilities at the Swiss Club Singapore provided are a children’s playground, four tennis courts, two squash courts, a soccer pitch, 3 different pools for babies, for lapping and a swimming pool set amidst tropical nature. The Sports and Arts Centre hosts the courts for playing Badminton, volleyball and other club functions. A New Pavillion building consist of 3 function rooms, gymnasium, game room for youngsters and play room for kiddies along with a huge conference room.

The activities conducted by the Swiss Club Singapore are diverse and range from archery, floorball, golf, squash, tennis, shooting etc. Programs such as aquafit, fitness program, Wing Tsun, yoga are also conducted for the health and fitness freaks. The activities chart comprises of various monthly acrivities and a library of the German School. The kids also have a long list of activities for themselves noteworthy being ballet and taekwondo. The games which are played on regular basis are Doppelkopf, Mahjong, Skat, and Jass.

The Swiss Club Singapore has 3 restaurants viz. the elegant colonial-styled air-conditioned Rifle Lounge is designed for fine dining, private functions, meetings, or a quiet evening to unwind at the Bar, the open-air restaurant offers a commanding view of the Club's surroundings and the poolside is called Arbenz and the Pergola is a quaint outdoor eatery which overlooks the poolside set within the greens. The Swiss Club Singapore, offers itself for hosting functions, seminar and business meeting with a wide array of services, international menus, space and facilities for your convenience.
