Saint Andrew's Community Hospital in Singapore

St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital (SAMH) is a non-profit voluntary organization for welfare. It has been reinstated as the corporate headquarters that looks after the activities of St.Andrew’s Community Hospital; St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital Clinic, St. Andrew’s Lifestreams and provides ample training in counseling and pastoral care and also St.Andrew’s Autism Centre.

The St. Andrew’s Community Hospital (SACH) is a community service that was set up by the St.Andrew’s Mission Hospital which is a non-profit welfare organization set up in 1913.

SACH aims to only set up affordable sub-acute and intermediate care for the entire community.

Their services are excellent and consist of the following —

Continuing Medical Care- This service is for those patients who are ailing perennially but without uncomplicated medical conditions. They may be considered as being in the sub-acute phase of illness and need inpatient treatment.

Patients undergo about 2-4 weeks of observation and facilitation to help them resolve their medical problems in case there is a continuing disability in order to regain some amount of successful functioning.

Rehabilitative Care - This kind of care is available to those who need post acute illness care. The patient normally undergoes 2 to 6 weeks of rest and confidence and achieves maximum fitness in all activities.

Respite Care - this service is for patients who are chronically ill and yet do not require immediate or specialized medical attention. Such patients are put in respite care as their caregivers need a breather from nursing their relatives at home.

Paediatric Care - This is for patients from 6 years to 16 years old who suffer illness and demand non-acute medical and/or rehabilitative care. These patients are usually referred by an acute care general hospital.

The St. Andrew’s Lifestreams (SAL) is one of the community service arms under the St.Andrew’s Mission Hospital that was established in 1998. This centre runs an educational and training institute for those who are involved in the caring and counseling profession which forms a crucial part of the Singapore Anglican Community Services. The St.Andrew’s Autism Centre (SAAC) is an integrated and comprehensive facility that serves people suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This centre runs the St.Andrew’s Autism School which is located at Level 10 of the St.Andrew’s Community Hospital at 8 Simei Street 3. This centre also runs a Day Activity Centre which is located at Block 33, Bedok South Avenue 2, #01-319.
