Ayer Rajah Expressway of Singapore

The Ayer Rajah Expressway is one of the major expressways in Singapore. It stretches from the western end of the East Coast parkway to Tuas located in the west close to the Tuas Second Link to Malaysia. The East Coast Parkway is situated in the southern part of Singapore. Our site focussingapore offers detailed information about Ayer Rajah Expressway of Singapore. The expressways are special roads that make the journey more comfortable and quicker for the motorists traveling from one urban area to the other.

The Ayer Rajah Expressway of Singapore along with the East Coast Parkway complements the vital role that is being played by the Pan Island Expressway.
The construction work on the expressway started in the year 1983 and the first two phases of the expressway were completed by 1988. The first phase of the work included the widening of some of the existing roads like the Ayer Rajah Road and Upper Ayer Rajah Road. The construction work on Keppel Viaduct, the then considered longest road was also on progress. The expressway was however, extended to Tuas in the year 1998.

The Ayer Rajah Expressway of Singapore passes through the industrial estate of Ayer Rajah and thus, derived its name from the area.
