Pan Island Expressway of Singapore

The Pan Island Expressway is the oldest expressway in Singapore. The longest expressway of the region connects Tuas located in the west to the Changi Airport in the eastern part of the island. The length of the Pan Island Expressway of Singapore is about 41 km. Our site focussingapore offers detailed information about the Pan Island Expressway of Singapore. The Pan Island Expressway is considered to be the first expressway in Singapore and the construction was completed in the year 1966.
The construction of the Pan Island Expressway in Singapore was completed in three different phases.

The first phase of the construction included the widening of the existing roads like the Whitley Road, Jalan Tao Payoh, Jalan Kolam Ayer and Paya Lebar Way.

The traffic light junctions were replaced by the grade-separated interchanges. The construction of a new road from Jalan Eunos to East Coast Parkway was completed in the year 1980 and in the next year the construction work on Jalan Anak Bukit to Corporation Road was completed. After the entire expressway was completed it was measured to be 35km. Later on extension works were done to connect the Pan Island Expressway of Singapore to the Kranji Expressway.
