Jurong Bird Park

Managed by the wildlife reserves of Singapore, the Jurong Bird Park is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Singapore. With 202, 000 sq meters area, this place is home to numerous bird species, all offering for a great sight especially for the bird lovers. The Jurong Bird Park is located in the vicinity of the Jurong hill and is actually the brain child of the former Minister for Defense, Dr. Goh Keng Swee. Inspired by the zoological gardens of Rio de Janeiro, the Minister speculated on having a similar aviary for birds for the people of Singapore to come and have a relaxing time here.

With this vision, the Jurong Bird Park was opened in 1971 for public viewing. There are around 600 species of birds housed in this bird park in Singapore, thus making it the world's largest bird park in terms of strength of the bird speci

There are several exhibits that have been designed in a specific way here, at the Jurong Bird Park, with each exhibit trying to vie for the limelight. Birds and Buddies Show, Birds of Prey Show, African Wetlands, Waterfall Aviary, Penguin Expedition and World of Darkness are a few significant ones to name in the order.

Other than the birds shows, a visitor in the Jurong Bird Park can also relax in the cool environs of nature and explore the various corners of the place through the modern monorail system or the adventurous ones can even go on walking tours across the park.
