The Singapore Law Review

The Singapore Law Review or SLR is a hot favorite legal journal in Singapore which is updated and managed by the students of the Law Faculty, the National University of Singapore. 1969 witnessed its first publication but in 1972 the publication was ceased. Again in 1983, the Singapore Law Review was revived and since then it is published annually. The objective behind the publication of the Singapore Law Review can be listed in the following manner:
To make students aware of current legal issues.
To encourage legal writing and discussions and to induce legal thinking into the students of the Law Faculty.

To provide a platform for legal interaction among the students, academics and legal practitioners on the recent legal developments.
The Law club organizes events for the students of the law faculty along with the publication of newsletter, Juris, and the journal, the Singapore Law Review.

The student run journal, The Singapore Law Review was first conceived in 1969 as it has been mentioned earlier by a group of vibrant students and by 1972 three volumes of the journal were published but due to some unfortunate circumstances the publication ceased after the coming out of the second part of Volume III in 1972. In 1980, the Law Club tried to improve the situation through the publication of The Law Times. It continued its annual publication till 1983 when the then Academic Secretary of the Law Club, Mr. Kevin Tan conceptualized the new Singapore Law Review. Since then, the journal reflects the legal educational scenario of Singapore.

In order to encourage legal thinking, the journal follows an informal editorial rule that one third of its articles should be written by non- students. Essay competitions ignite the thought provoking attitudes and all these are accompanied by insightful articles by academics and the members of the legal fraternity. Thus, the Singapore Law Review has been designed in such a fashion that it is not solely a student oriented journal but an informative and useful material for the legal community at large.
