Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Marina Bay Sands at the southern part of Singapore provides a perfect combination of unique infrastructure, beautiful scenic gardens and tourist attractions. With the land reclamation in Marina Bay in 1970s, this area has paved way for massive expansion with outstanding developments. The Telok Ayer Basin was removed and this diverted the flow of the Singapore River into the bay rather than flowing into the sea. In 2008, Marina barrage was constructed that turned the Marina Bay and the Kallang Basin into a downtown freshwater reservoir.

Waterfront Promenade
The Waterfront Promenade is one of the most visited areas and tourists throng to this place. This 3.5 kms walkway provides a picturesque view of the complete Bay area. A walk on the Bay front will lead you to the Mist Walk where you can experience the magical amalgamation of water misters with light and music.

You can walk down little further to an open space meant for families and witness the water jet dancing. A broad walk at the lower reaches is made of timber and leads you to the water body wherein you get to travel on a river taxi all along the Singapore River and enjoy the breathtaking views. Further down is the Breeze Shelter that allows you to rest amidst cool and gentle wind. The Helix pedestrian bridge connects the waterfront area to the Marina Center. This magnificent architectural splendor has a striking similarity with the DNA structure resembling the continuity of life. Adjacent to the Helix is the Olympic Youth Park which was designed to acknowledge the artistic creations of the locals.

Gardens by the Bay
The Gardens by the Bay is a spectacular open park which is just a 5 minute walk from the Bay front. Spread across 101

hectares, this amazing park houses numerous exotic plant species. This huge area is further divided into three parts - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central. All the three gardens are interlinked with a number of pedestrian bridges and offer a unique display of artistic garden designs. The Bay South is the largest waterfront garden and is designed with ultra- modern look. It is adorned with Supertrees that create a dream-like ambience. These Supertrees not only add beauty but help in rain water collection and solar power generation. The area also houses the conservatories namely, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome that resemble the Mediterranean region and the Tropical mountainous regions respectively. The Bay Central paves way to the Bay East which provides splendid view of the Bay area. Filled with open spaces, palm trees, and flowering plants, this place provides the apt surrounding for a casual and relaxed walk.

Great Infrastructure with Futuristic Outlook

The Marina Bay is powered with uninterrupted telecommunication and internet services through the common services in an underground tunnel. Apart from various recreational activities, the Marina Barrage bars the entry of flood water and the reservoir fulfills the fresh water demands. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore aims to provide top most combination of residential area, recreational activities and work space via three basic attributes - ‘explore, entertain and exchange’. With proper management of development activities, high rise buildings and open garden areas are strategically placed in order to create one of the finest planned areas in Singapore.

The Marina Coastal Expressway connecting the eastern and western parts of Singapore to the downtown area is lined up for completion. Asia Square, a twin tower complex is on the verge of completion. This complex is developed to accommodate state-of-the-art office areas, five star hotel accommodation, shopping areas and open exhibition space. A Mass Rapid Transit Line called the Downtown Underground Line is scheduled for completion in the forthcoming years and aims at providing a rapid traveling experience. With such futuristic developments, Marina Bay Sands is sure to become one of the finest areas with aesthetic designs.
