As a responsible global citizen, Singapore has ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which provides a platform for countries to collectively avert the threat of global warming. Singapore aims to reduce its Green House Gas through energy efficiency and conservation measures, as well as using fuels that emit less GHG such as natural gas. Energy efficiency programmes for consumers include the Energy Labeling Scheme (ELS) that shows how efficient appliances are, and the Fuel Economy Labeling Scheme (FELS) that shows vehicles' fuel efficiency.
