Public Hospitals in Singapore

The Public Hospitals of Singapore are patient centric in their services and approach. Striving ahead to maintain a healthy lives of most Singaporeans, these hospitals try to offer seamless, accessible and cost-effective treatment to majority of their patients.

Foremost being the Alexandra Hospital located in central west Singapore, believes in health education, health screenings and holistic approach for improving the patients health. Restructuring and joining the National Health Group are the two prominent landmarks of this 400-bed general and acute care hospital
The National University Hospital located at 5 Lower Kent Ridge Road Singapore 119074, was put open to public in 1985. Today, the hospital is a 928-bed occupancy providing tertiary and acute care to its patients. The National University Hospital specializes in cardiac care, obstetrics, gynecology, oncology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopedic and gastroenterology services. Being the only university hospital, doctors are also allowed to teach at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
Singapore General Hospital, located at Outram Road, Singapore 169608 is one of the oldest and biggest acute tertiary hospital and referral center in Singapore. The SGH campus comprises of four specialty centers including National Heart Centre (NHC), National Cancer Centre (NDC) and National Dental Centre (NDC), Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). It functions as a referral center for Renal Medicine, Comprehensive Range of Clinical Specialities Nuclear Medicine, Plastic Surgery and Burns, Pathology and Haematology. This 1500 bed hospital caters to 70,000 patients annually and 600,000 patients in their outpatient clinics.

Located at 11 Jalan Tan Tock Seng Singapore 308433, the Tan Tock Seng Hospital has occupancy of 1400 beds and specializes in acute general care. Another patient centric hospital with a holistic approach, the hospital serves as center for communicable disease, foot disease, limb design. It also functions as a referral center for general surgery, ear, nose and throat diseases, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, emergency medicine, diagnostic radiology, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, infectious diseases etc. Its role in treatment of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 is highly appreciated.

The Changi General Hospital is located at 2 Simei Street 3 Singapore 529889 and it serves patients who are residents of Tampines, Simei and Bedok. The Changi General Hospital provides a varied range of medical services ranging from general surgery to gynecology, urology, sports medicine etc. It has 790 beds and 100 consultation rooms; it is also equipped with MRI, CT Scan and Cardiac Catheterization too. The colorful get up and lush green well landscaped garden go a long way in treating the patients. The public hospitals of Singapore are well equipped and well facilitated with latest medical equipments, procedures and know how in order to provide good medical services to its patients.
