The renewal or cancellation of this pass is however totally dependent on the discretion of the concerned Employer and the M.O.M act as the 'issuing' authority only. The Spouse / Children of Expatriate workers are eligible for Dependent's Pass. Special permission of the M.O.M is required in case the holder of a Dependent's Pass wishes to work in Singapore, even if it is part time. One must take note of the fact that working in Singapore without a valid Work Permit or EP (Employment Pass) is a serious offence and the punishment may also include mandatory jail and / fine; apart from seizure of the offender's travel documents and immediate deportation.
Another important issue for Expatriate is that of Medical Fitness; subject to which Employment Pass may or may not be issued to the expatriate worker.
