The late Tripitakacarya Sri Saddharma Vagisvara Upsddhayaya M M Mahaweera Maha Nayaka Thero founded Mangala Vihara, or the Shrine or Blessings, in 1959.
Tradition followed is Theravada, Sri Lankan. The temple organizes Dhamma classes, yoga classes, and meditation and retreat lessons. The Buddhist and Pali College of Singapore was set by the Venerable M M Mahaweera Maha Nayaka Thero to impart courses in Buddhist Studies.
