For visitors who wish to understand and appreciate Chinese culture, history, folklore and Confucian ideology, a visit to Haw Par Villa is a must. Built in 1937 by Aw Boon Haw, the tiger balm king, the villa was originally meant for his younger brother, but later was transformed into an entertainment park. The name 'Haw Par Villa' translates to the house of Tiger and Leopard.
The park houses a colorful collection of over 1,000 statues and 150 giant tableaux, centered on Chinese mythology and new editions include the Jade House, which displays the Aw's family collection of jades and the Tiger Car, a replica of the car owned by Aw Boon Haw.
