The Sports Medicine Research Centre is the only formal sports medicine and sports science Centre in Singapore. The Centre provides Singapore's elite athletes a comprehensive range of integrated medical and scientific support services.

About SMSS
The late Mr. Runme Shaw, who donated $1 million to the Centre, officially opened Sports Medicine & Research Centre (SMRC) on 31st August 1973. SMRC is an integral unit of SSC and it undertakes the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and performance enhancement of athletes through the use of sports science.
