ACM or the Asian Civilizations Museum is deemed as an institution which constitutes an important part of the 3 other museums of Singapore's National Museums. The Asian Civilizations Museum is the leading museum specializing in Pan-Asian civilizations and cultures. The Asian Civilizations Museum is the center for specialization of West Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian and Chinese history the places from where many of the Singaporeans descended. The Asian Civilizations Museum is a center providing all the knowledge and education regarding Singapore's heritage by shedding light on the ancestral histories of the Singaporeans.

History of the Asian Civilizations Museum
On 22nd April, 1997 the Asian Civilizations Museum was unveiled with exhibitions primarily focusing on the Chinese Civilization at the old Tan Nan School Building. The Museum formed its new flag-ship Museum on the 2nd March, 2003 after the Empress Place building was restored. The Branch housed at the old Tao Nan Building also known as the Armenian Street Branch which was closed on 1st January, 2006 will now deal with specialization in the Peranakan History after it is re-opened.

Highlights of the Asian Civilizations Museum
Unlike most other museums, the Asian Civilizations Museum does not follow a chronological sequence of its displays and exhibitions. They are segmented into numerous races that inhabited the Asian continent. The segments have got touch-screen enabled LCD Monitors which features actors and actresses acting out the part of a specific ethnic Asian tribe thus allowing the viewers to know more about this people.

Gallery Rooms at the Asian Civilizations Museum
The Gallery Room temporarily exhibits work belonging to the Asian Continent and the Sanxingdui exhibits of the Mystery Man in 2007 is the most current display. The Museum has a big Asian restaurant serving exclusive local gourmets and Asian cuisines. Halls and ballrooms host various functions, dances and also dinners.
