The Malay Heritage Center in Singapore specializes in the history, culture and heritage of the Malay community in Singapore. The Malay Heritage Center is situated at Sultan Gate of the Kampong Glam. The Malay Heritage center standing on the 2-acre plot was unveiled on the 27th November; 2004.The Malay Heritage center was built by the Malay Heritage Foundation in 2004.
History of the Malay Heritage Center
The Malay Heritage Center stands at the Sultan Gate which was the Sultan's palace also known as the "Istana Kampong Glam".

Sultan Ali who was the son of the Sultan Hussein Shah built the palace about 162 years ago. The Malay Heritage foundation undertook a major restoration work to renovate the Sultan's palace or the "Istana Kampong Glam" as it is known in Malay and turned it into the Malay Heritage center in 2004.

Architecture of the Istana Kampong Glam
The Sultan's palace or the Istana Kampong Glam is inspired by the famous Palladian architectural style of the 19th century. Imported materials were used to construct the elegant palace.
Major Attractions at the Malay Heritage Center
The Malay Heritage Museum is housed at the Malay Heritage Center which preserves and showcases the heritage, history and culture of the Malay community residing in Singapore.

The Malay Heritage Museum has numerous collections of displays and exhibits including some precious historical artifacts. The Museum also hosts dioramic screening and exhibitions. Various cultural programs are also staged at the Museum including dance, music and costume displays. Workshops are also conducted on the traditional art of pottery-making and Batik fabric designs.
