Geylang, also called Geylang Serai, is a neighbourhood in the city-state of Singapore east of the Central Area, Singapore's central business district. It is located to the East of the Singapore River. The neighbourhood is dominated by Singapore's ethnic Malay community. Geylang today in untouched by urbanization and is frequently visited by locals as well as the tourist because it offers a wide range of Singaporean dishes such as Chilli crab, Katong Laksa, and famous Roti prata. The night life at Geylang is vibrant and well visited due to the permitted red light area and the existence of various karoake lounges. |
