Singapore Sling Drink

The Singapore Sling is a cocktail that was created by Ngiam Tong Boon. He made this cocktail for the Raffles Hotel in Singapore sometime between 1910 to 1915. there are different types of Singapore slings. The recipe and the taste therefore vary at different places in Singapore but the Raffles Hotel still sticks as much as it can to the original recipe and the same taste. The varied recipes are the reason why everyone has heard about the drink but none are sure as to its actual taste.

The original recipe made at Raffles hotel was made of ingredients including gin, cherry brandy, and Benedictine in almost equal amounts. This mixture was shaken and strained into a glass before adding club soda as per your personal taste and preference. Benedictine often gets overlooked in the many variations of this drink but it is a key ingredeint which adds its unique flavour to this drink. It is said that the original recipe for this drink was lost sometime in 1930s and the current version is made as pr the memories of the former bartenders on how this drink is made and some written notes.

Therefore the taste and recipe of the drink has been modified from its original state. Much of the modifications has been done by Ngiam Tong Boon's nephew in the 1970s. Today this drink is available on all Singapore Airline flights. It is provided free to the passengers on all classes of travel. This drink is considered among the best cocktails by experts and cocktail aficionados. In the present day one can get this cocktail at S$23.54 at Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
