The skyscrapers and old shop houses at Boat Quay define modern Singapore. In the 1960s it was the busiest port but now it has been transformed into a popular hangout for locals, expatriates and tourists, with chic cafes, high-quality restaurants, yuppie pubs and designer galleries. Boat Quay offers splendid views of the Singapore River and part of the colonial district.
