Kaya Toast is a firm favorite among locals. It consists of kaya (a creamy coconut jam) and butter sandwiched between slices of crisp charcoal-grilled bread. It is best enjoyed as breakfast along with soft-boiled eggs and some black coffee.The two old-style eateries famous for serving kaya toast are -Killiney Kopitiam and Ya Kun. Both have branches scattered all around Singapore.
Killiney Kopitam has 12 local branches, including one in Malaysia, while Ya Kun has 21 in Singapore, with 10 in Indonesia, five in Taiwan and two in Korea.
