The Singapore Badminton Association was established in 1929. Since it was establishment, the Association has grown and developed by leaps and bounds. Today it is counted as one of the leading badminton clubs in the world. There was a time when the badminton scene in Singapore was very dismal and the conditions existing for the players were far from ideal. In adequate equipments, poor lighting facilities and mediocre badminton courts were the banes of badminton in Singapore. But with the creation of Singapore Badminton Association, the conditions underwent a sea change and situations started changing for the better.

Thousands of badminton enthusiasts patronize this association in the present day. It has given well-known players such as EJ Vass, Koh Keng Siang, Leow Kim Fatt, Tan Chong Tee and SA Durai to the world. The success of the Singaporean players in the All England Tournament in 1950, 1951, 1952, and 1955 are also due to this association and its efforts. Players Wong Peng Soon, Ong Poh Lim, and Ismail Marjan were also able to make their marks in the international badminton with the help of Singapore Badminton Association. Today badminton is one of the top 5 popular sports in Singapore, all thanks to Singapore Badminton Association.

The establishment of this organization also worked as an added endorsement for this game. Moreover the various competitions and tournaments held by this organization also helps a long way in training and grooming the players of this association to compete on a larger scale in international and national tournaments.
