2008 Beijing Olympics Update

The 2008 Summer Olympic Games, which is also officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, is a mega international multi-sport event that is being organized in in Beijing, People's Republic of China. The event starts from August 8 and ends on August 24, 200, however only football starts on August 6. The event attracts a total number of 10,500 athletes, who are competing in 302 events in 28 sports categories.

The Beijing Olympic 2008 is special in a way that for the third time the Olympic events are being held in the territories of two different National Olympic Committees (NOC). The equestrian events are being held in Hong Kong. Other two instances are the 1956 games and the 1920 games.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics uses the symbol of the "Dancing Beijing" emblem that depicts a Chinese seal inscribed with the special character "Jing" in the form of a dancing figure. It signifies the name of the host city. The 2008 Beijing Olympic carries a special motto that reads 'One World, One Dream'. Athletes come from 204 different National Olympic Committees. The mega event will be officially innaugurated by the President of China Hu Jintao.
The Athlete's Oath will be taken by Zhang Yining and the Judge's Oath by Huang Liping. Li Ning will carry the Olympic Torch. During the duration of the event, the venue, Beijing National Stadium will be the main center of attraction. Also this is for the third time that the mega Olympics is being organized by an Asian country. The Chonese government has invested heavily to promote the event and make it a huge success. Many more world records are expected in this Olympics.
