The Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) is one of the premier professional dance companies to have emerged from the Asia-Pacific region. Performing six seasons in a year, The Company holds a repertoire, which ranges from classical to contemporary ballet, performed at the Esplanade Theatre, Performing Home of the SDT and at the Fort Canning Green.
The Singapore Dance Theatre is the national dance centre in Singapore founded by the late Anthony then and Goh Soo Khim. It had its debut in at the Singapore Festival of The Arts.
It received its first arts patronage by Mr. Ong Teng Cheong. The Singapore Dance Theatre stages six performances every year at the Esplanade Theatre and the Fort Canning Green. It is here that the Ballet Under the Stars series have their outdoor performances.

A Million Kisses to My Skin is a product of the post classical dance work that visualizes the baroque style patterns of Bach's Piano Concerto No.1. Glow-Stop is a dynamic and devilish creation with gravity-defying gyrations, kinetic and static at every moment. Celebrations in Dance, Ballet Under the Stars, FireFives, Redoubled, The Nutcracker are some of the performances that have been added in the prestigious past archives of this year. The other performances in the past years have been most notably Coppelia, Impressions, Swan Lake, etc.
The latest performance that is going to be staged in December is Nutcrackers. This is an enticing fairytale ballet set in the occasion of Christmas eve. The Nutcracker is a tale of adventure and courage of a girl and her Nutcracker Doll from Dr. Drosselmeyer. At the stroke of midnight, the Nutcracker doll is her savior when her room is invaded by an army of rats. The Nutcracker doll turns into a prince and then begins her magical journey with Clara.
This performance is on the 12, 13 and 17, 18th of December, 2008 at Esplanade Theatre.
