    Singapore Travel Tips

Shopping sprees, exciting nightlife, exotic food, famed landmarks, friendly people - all these and much more awaits you in Singapore. Makes you want to pack and board that flight right away, right? Hold on! Bathe in your excitement, but do not let it ruin what could easily become a dream vacation. No doubt Singapore is a beautiful nation, but we do not want to leave you thinking only about the beauty and exotic landscapes of this country. As a traveler to a completely unknown international location, it becomes important for you to keep in mind a bunch of valuable tips to make your trip more comfortable and memorable.
We, at Focus Singapore, want you to get the best out of your Singapore vacation. Consider the following tips for your travel to Singapore:

  • When entering Singapore, you are advised to carry with you valid passports and visas.

    * American passport holders and Canadian passport holders who visit Singapore for business or for social visit purposes do not require a visa for up to 30 days. All other passport holders must contact a nearby Singapore Consulate or Embassy.

  • As a visitor, you are required to have a passport validity of at least 6 months beyond the last day of intended stay in Singapore.
  • Do not forget to carry your confirmed onward/return tickets, onward facilities like visa or entry permit to your next destination (if required) and sufficient funds for your stay in Singapore.

  • The currency of Singapore is Singapore dollar. For the convenience of the traveler’s, foreign exchange services are available in most of the banks, hotels, shopping complexes and at Changi Airport.

  • Public transport and taxis are easily available at the Changi Airport to the city center. The Mass Rapid Transit train system operates from the airport to the city center and trains depart frequently. The Maxicab, a six-seater taxi shuttle, operates throughout the day. The tickets must be bought in advance from the shuttle service counter.

  • When it comes to tipping, you should be aware that the practice is not widely accepted in Singapore. It is strictly prohibited at the airport, and even the hotel and restaurant authorities make every possible effort to discourage it.

  • Laws relating to jaywalking, littering and chewing gum are strictly enforced in urban areas.

  • Smoking is widely discouraged in Singapore and is illegal in several enclosed public places.

  • Impressive shopping malls and shopping streets are the best places to opt for extensive shopping in Singapore. In Singapore, the shopping hours are generally from 10 am to about to 9:30 pm daily.

  • Carry with you some loose and light summer clothing, especially for outing purposes. In formal business meetings and invitations, formal dress is preferred.

  • Although the streets are quite safe even at night time, it is advised that you avoid dark and secluded streets.

  • Singapore’s tropical climate offers visitors’ unlimited opportunities to experience a relaxing outdoor vacation all year-round.

  • With these tips in mind and your already stirred up excitement, Singapore travel will be no less than your dream vacation.
